GOOD BYE 2012 HELLO 2013!!

I dedicate this post to all of my followers. Thank you for all your kind support and feed back.  And so we are off to a new year. I am happy to announce that I am now working for Henderson Press, a local news paper. I will be covering news worthy events surrounding the arts around town and I will have an Opinion column. This is something I always wanted to do and now here I am doing it!

My dear readers, please don’t ever give up on chasing your dreams down and living them with a passion.  Sure, writing is not making me killer bucks, at least not yet hee hee but that doesn’t matter a hill of pinto beans to me. I get such a kick out of living my dream because at the end of my day I know some one benefited from what I do.

As you enter 2013 remind yourself that you are the only one that can do  what you were put here on planet earth to do. Many people can do the same job similarly true enough; no one can do it quite like you though! So stand back and let 2013 be the year your surprise yourself! Go for it there is no one stopping you but you and fear. And did you know fear simply is an acronym for: FALSE EVIDENCE APPEARING REAL. Let that sink in!

So long 2012, thanks for all the good things you brought me which are too many to name; and thanks for the bad things because I actually learned a lot from them. I go into this new year full of hope and a  resolve to keep pushing forward and forgetting what tried to hold me back in the past. I hope you find the strength to do the same.

Take care readers and see ya next year!!! 🙂

THANK YOU!

THANK YOU!

I came to the USA
Though I love my country of birth,
The place of my blood,
Is still in my heart…
BUT I’ve lived in this great land,
For most of my life.

As a girl I ran on the sand
Of her finest beaches.IMG_2151
I grew up eating
Georgia’s delightful peaches.
I’ve seen the sunrise in the east,
To watch it descend
In the far west.
My eyes have seen a feast,
But the sun setting at home, baloney
Is always the finest,the best.

All of my blessings
Have been given  me here,
In this wonderful place.
Where God has given me favor,
And shown me His face.
I’m forever thankful
For all that I have:
A life rich with flavor. IMG_1760

I look into the eyes of my loved ones…
Daily I see,
Daily I hear,
Daily I know,  whom I’m indebted to. ffpoets

I am rich without measure,
I look all around,
In my home, so MUCH treasure!
I appreciate you God,
For bringing me here,
I say to you now, and forevermore!!
” Happy Thanksgiving Day to all of my family, friends and fans!”

Day of Acknowledgment

Thanksgiving Day,
a day to give thanks,
should not just be a holiday,
but also a lifestyle,
with an attitude,
of gratitude.
Let’s never forget
why it is we truly celebrate,
or else we’ll only be feasting for naught-
having forgotten
the very ones who fought
so we could partake
in this amazing gift,
a treasure from heaven:
our FREEDOM.
That we seem to daily
take for granted.
Let our thanks be deliberate,
as we sit down with family to celebrate.
Oh, please America,
let us never stop our thanks,
let us always keep giving,
not only today on Thanksgiving.
America: Once one of the ten
lepers they were needing cleansing..
they reached out to be healed,
an then heaven touched them.
At once all ten were restored.

Healed and Restored

Nine of the ten ran off,
to live their lives without looking back.
Except for the one, America,
she came back on her knees in appreciation
to The One who healed, saved and restored.
Then she was blessed as a nation,
and she never ever since forgot
any of those who fought
for her freedom.
There are many who hate
gnashing their teeth everyday,
as they lay in wait
to see America fall on her face.
To see her crumble from outer space.
What they don’t realize,
is that America is great
because The One on His Throne,
sees her enemies and laughs,
and one day they’ll all be turned
from powder into stone.
Although America does stumble,
she was not made to break.
America is far from perfect,
if she was, she would be boring.
She is good…  being made better.
Oh let us never forget!
We must never turn our backs
on those who have fought.
Our freedom was blood bought,
to make America great.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING DAY AMERICA!!

Throw Out The Classroom Mentality

Hello again!
This is such a treat to be able to share from my heart and know that I may be actually helping someone out there in cyber space. Today I wanted to talk about a subject that perplexes many of the parents I speak with . Once I tell them I home school I get 2 types of looks: the first one is a total look of almost ( excuse me as I giggle here) awe- as if to say, “Wow! How DO you do it?” The second look I get communicates an , “Ok lady you’re weird and I’m not going to say much to you.” Well I want to expound on the first reaction.

Usually parents who want to know how I “do it”, want to know so I tell them this:” First of all if you’re going to home school, you must throw out the class room mentality because if you try to bring the public school class room method into your home, you’re going to go loco.” You see, home schooling is not a replacement of one method of learning over another. No siree, home schooling is a way of life and there for you have to make it fit your life style.

Another good question I get often is how long do you teach your kids for? Well a long time ago when I was learning about this amazing field, I learned a new term: UNSCHOOLING– it is an approach to home schooling that allows you the freedom to teach your children any time, any place, anywhere; and believe me a lesson can begin from a single question asked over family dinner and continue to be studied and discussed for days on.

So you see, the sky really is the limit once you decide to throw out the classroom mentality and embrace home schooling as a way of life. Adios!!
