Us Parents, We’re Weird Like That

We hope our kids are growing

Then get sad when they do

Us parents, we’re weird like that

We hope they grow more independent

And when they take off on their own

We cry

We hope they need us less and less

Once they do, we wring our hands and pace the floor with worry

We hope our kids leave the nest

And once they do,

We’re devastated

We hope they find true love

And once they do,

We hope they won’t have too many heart breaks

We hope our kids grow up to be amazing people

And once they do

We hope they don’t forget us

Ahhh yes, parental complexity knows no bounds!

Moments Add Up To LOVE

Don’t worry about what comes next

Enjoy the moments as they are given you

If there is to be another

Enjoy that one and the moments after that

In this way

Moment by moments shared is how 2 grow in love

You  grow in love gradually

Moment by moment

THE WAY

What’s that thing you hold in your hand?
That’s the key
The key to your dreams
You use it everyday and take it for granted
Because you never fully embraced it
You see it as a nuisance
When every nuance speaks the opposite

The best tears you cry is when you’re alone. When you cry in some one else’s presence, you feel compelled to explain away how you feel.. The other person feels helpless . Both of you are sad. When you cry alone, you are just being YOU at your most vulnerable and that is good.

No fanfare

No pity

No explaining to do

Just cry it out…

Best places to shed your tears?

Out in the cold rain

In a hot bath/shower

In the warm ocean

Your tears return home in these familiar places

Worst places to shed your tears?

In front of people because most of the time, they don’t know what to do or say…people want to know why. Sometimes whys are not forthcoming.

Storytellers/Talks

I am posting a couple of poems written by a 13 year old  dancer  and aspiring poet . -Eva

Storytellers

dancers are mimes
we express ourselves
through our
movements,
no words.
if your act
tells a story,
I think it’s one of
the most
beautiful things.
if not, you need to
get out of the
box and tell it.

TALKS

I’m Deanna. Most know me by DD, which is how I write my name on some poems I have written. I’m a dancer, dance has been a part of my life for awhile, since I was two. I’m in 7th grade, in Las Vegas Nevada. Dance helps me with my writing, and so do my experiences. My dream is to become a professional dancer, along with being a writer/poet.

ES TEMPRANO

Enrique Iglesias, one of my favorite Latin music artists once explained in an interview that some of his songs are born in Spanish and others in English. I feel the same way when I write my poems  Today I wrote this poem and I was tempted to translate it for my English speakers. I refrained because I believe as my daughter Elena once quoted, “Poetry is like love, you don’t have to understand it, to feel it.”

ES TEMPRANO

Aqui estoy arrebatada.
Me siento inutil,
Y un poco pesada
Me pesa mi alma por que no te tengo.
Me pesa el Corazon por que estas lejos.
Lejos, leeejjjjooos de mi
Tu amada:
La que te ama de verdad.
Sin falsedad.
Que hago?
Nada.
Que pienso?
Nada
Es aun muy temprano.

Eres mi projimo y mi hermano,

Un alguien lindo,

Precioso ser humano.

Simplemente se que te amo.
