This video is a must for parents with teens as well as for adults. It’s just about using common sense and courtesy. Sometimes I wish we could go back to times when men behaved like gentlemen because women’s behavior encouraged them to do so. Enjoy your Saturday 🙂

This post is brilliant and that’s why I’m sharing it on my blog. When are people going to understand that children are little imitators of what they see their parents do and say? Do you want to know what’s going on in someone’s home? Just look at the children because they are the barometer of that home. I heard a preacher say a long time ago when I used to go to church that the true measure of a man is in the way he treats his closest neighbors; his wife and children are his closest neighbors.

The landmark case, Organic Seed Growers and Trade Association (OSGATA) et al v. Monsanto was filed on March 29, 2011 on behalf of family farmers, seed businesses and agricultural organizations in an effort to challenge Monsanto’s patents on genetically modified (GMO) seeds and protect farmers from the biotech seed and chemical giant’s abusive patent infringement lawsuits.
Between 1997 and 2010, 144 farmers have already been sued by Monsanto and another 700 have settled out of court for undisclosed sums. Many times these abusive lawsuits force farmers into bankruptcy and off the land. We can’t allow this to continue.
As a plaintiff in the lawsuit, Food Democracy Now! will be there and will deliver your signatures to the family farmers to make sure that they know that citizens everywhere stand with them.
Thank you for joining us in making a stand with family farmers – now help spread the word!
Dave, Lisa and the Food Democracy Now! team
P.S. Will you chip in $5 or $10 to assist family farmers traveling to New York to take part in their historic day in court? Every bit helps and together we make a difference! Help us make sure farmers have their voice heard over Monsanto’s.
To those who are interested and are near enought to be able, Food Democracy Now! and our fellow plaintiffs invite you to take part in a Citizen’s Assembly of Support for Family Farmers vs. Monsanto outside the NYC courthouse in an effort to stand up for America’s farmers at this crucial moment in their quest for justice. Click here to RSVP and learn more about how to participate outside the courtroom.

On January 31, family farmers will take part in the first phase of a court case filed to protect farmers from genetic trespass by Monsanto’s GMO seed, which contaminates organic and non-GMO farmer’s crops and opens them up to abusive lawsuits. In the past two decades, Monsanto’s seed monopoly has grown so powerful that they control the genetics of nearly 90% of five major commodity crops including corn, soybeans, cotton, canola and sugar beets.
In many cases farmers are forced to stop growing certain organic and conventional crops to avoid genetic contamination and potential lawsuits. Between 1997 and 2010, Monsanto admits to filing 144 lawsuits against America’s family farmers, while settling another 700 out of court for undisclosed amounts. Due to these aggressive lawsuits, Monsanto has created an atmosphere of fear in rural America and driven dozens of farmers into bankruptcy.
Farmers need your voice today. Please spread the word today.

Today’s picture is of an event of something I had never been a part of before. A couple of years ago the dance studio my daughters attended arranged a mob dance and my whole family except for my husband participated in it. Thankfully he declined because we would not have any pictures of the event. Mob dances are so much FUN! This one we did in the hottest part of the summer here in the lovely Mojave desert. I appreciate the fact that we performed in front of the dancing fountains of The Bellagio Casino. We even made it on to the evening news. That was such a great experience for me because it brought me out of my shell.  I can say I have done a mob dance and lived to tell about it.

I was looking through some pics for today’s post and I chose this one because it made me realize how many pets we have adopted through the years. Our first family pet was a  Jack Russel Terrier who just happened to come into our lives at the worst time. All of my kids were under 10 years old with my youngest just having turned 2 that year. I felt like Bosco was another child I had to look after and I was already spread out past thin. It broke my heart to have to give him away to a neighbor but it was what was best for him as well. After that, we didn’t have any pets because I thought it best to wait until the kids were older and handle taking care of a pet. Then entered our rabbit phase. After the 6th rabbit died we decided to take another break from owning a pet.
This Desert Tortoise was a gift from our neighbors to my son. That boy adores turtles. I think that Snap, as he named him, was THE gift of his 12th birthday. But unfortunately Snap didn’t last long because someone stole him not too long after. So here is to you Snap, wherever you are, Jojo still misses you. 🙂

This sign tickles me. The missing W in what is supposed to read water, got tired of the drought and went to find itself. As for Basic Water… REALLY?? As opposed to what, Premium Water?  THAT’s so redundant! Have a great day readers 🙂
