Thank you to all my faithful readers who still follow this blog 🙂
What a roller coaster of a year 2017 was. I’m looking forward to things slowing down a bit so that I can savor the moment!
I’m also studying a lot and my writing is on an upward growth curve. I’m back so don’t think that I’ve abandoned this blog that I started back in the summer of 2011. My oh my, how time flies when we’re having fun!
Travel Light
Don’t take any luggage.
Leave the old worn out dusty baggage behind-
it won’t serve you on this leg of your travels.
Travel light just with your thoughts, your pen and paper.
Let your mind photograph what’s important:
His smile, his holding your hand for the first time,
his first long, arduous kiss,
his long gaze not wanting to let go-
for fear you might disappear into his heart.
Travel light with only the clothes you own on your back.
Travel light and worry not about what you will eat tomorrow.
Travel light –
let your feet carry you into the unknown parts of your destiny.
Travel light and know that your bed and pillow are already provided for.
Travel light and carry only your torch of truth and conviction.
Travel light: It’s how His Spirit travels.
Travel light shedding years of misery and trauma by the road side.
Let the misery and trauma fall as thorns and thistles by the way side.
Travel light or progress won’t happen.
Travel light and remember the old paths only as reference points.
Travel light and follow the new map;
the old, torn, wrinkled map  will get you lost.
Travel light and let the wings of your dreams carry you to new lands,
foreign to you alone who’ve not been there.
Travel light because your moving spirit journeys under no other circumstances.
Travel light because you’re growing and turning more in the image of the one who gave you wings.
Travel light because to stay in the same place all of your life is the death of your destiny.
Wild things
They grow in the dark
They grow in the mud
They grow and multiply
Everyone has wild things
That they willingly deny
Wild things
They make our hearts race
They make us feel alive
They set the pace
Make you wanna fly to outer space
Wild things
We fear them
For they go against the norm
Of what we were taught
We never feared wild things
That was until the day
We learned to perform
And to not resist the norm
Wild things:
People
Places
Things
Wild things give us wings
And we retreat when they appear
Because the voices of should, shall and shant
Have instilled in us all a fear
Fear the wild things
They cry beg plead and implore,
“Don’t go there!” They scream,
“Don’t ever your world explore!”
Aahhh but explore we must!
For wild things beckon us to come out and play
Try this food
Play this game
It might be good
If you don’t try something new
You’ll always  stay the same
Wild things
View them as a babe
Who was just born
Slaves kills what’s wild
They’ve lost their sight
They fear what’s wild
Whipped into submission
By the rod of a misguided child
Wild things:
Embrace them is to live
You die when you choke them.
Black and white photography is amazing to me because you can change the whole look and feel of a picture. I think it’s because in color photography, you need less of an imagination because red is red and you don’t question it. Black and white photos leave everything up to the viewer’s imagination and maybe that’s why it seems more in-depth to me.
I am starting a year-long blog challenge. The idea just came to me after I was done viewing all the photos I took on my trip. Here it is, come rain or shine, hell or high water, I will post a photo I took and I will attach a short story or poem or at least a personal comment. There won’t be any web images on this challenge; in this way, I’ll be whetting my writing appetite and having to dust off my camera and start shooting snap shots of life.
I’m back from my holiday in Cali.  By the way, I like saying that I went on holiday so much better than I went on vacation. No, I’m not British and yes, I love the way they speak English in GB. Going on holiday implies mystery and adventure  while going on vacation, sounds so plain and mundane. Going on holiday excites me while going on vaca means I vacated my current premises and I’m not so sure where my feet are going to land next..

Redondo Beach, CA Tour Guide
January 1, 2012
This is the place where the birds lead you around. If bird could talk oh what tales they would tell of their lives lived in ease. I’m sure they loath pesky camera crazy tourists like me, invading their private lives with an intrusive camera lens.

Spider Man's Hind Quarters
Ok, I wasn’t going for his behind no matter what you think. Spider Man and Shrek are betting on which dumb pedestrian is going to avoid using the cross walk so they can get hit on Hollywood Blvd.

Coming to a Bookstore near you in 2012
There is nothing like free advertising for my new book. I was in Santa Monica beach before heading home. My kids were all  writing on the sand and I said,” Why not? Everybody needs a free plug now and then right?”
