Our yesterdays become today’s poetry
What mis-guided steps we took in earlier days
Become the compass to guide or mis-guide us through life’s tempests in later years
Our flood of tears that overwhelmed us as babes
Water and keep fertile our heart’s soil in our golden years
Our early attempts at art:
Our stick figures we clumsily drew and our finger paintings
Become the force behind master strokes
On the masterpiece we paint of our whole life
The notes we failed to carry when we were tone deaf
Become the notes angelic beings carry to and fro
Up and down Jacob’s ladder
Aligning the celestial harmonies
Between our heavenly residence and our earthly abode
The multitude of our unanswered questions
We asked while at our parent’s knees
Become our song’s lyrics
The stuff of our novels , stories and poems
We are greater than the sum of earth’s square footage
We are greater than the power of all rulers, past and present combined
Our greatness emanates from the Divine!

We all drink from a certain cup
Bitter or sweet,
We take our daily libations from life’s fountain
A drink from a bitter cup has to be chased by a sip from the sweet one
or how would we make it?
Some choose bitter some choose sweet
Then there are those of us who figured long ago both are essential,
you can’t have bitter without the sweet
you can’t have sweet without the bitter
A babe craves sweet as it can’t handle bitter
The mature turn bitter from having swallowed the delusions that come with too much sweet
Too much sweet rots you from the inside out
So does too much bitter
Some drink their cups of shattered scraps as if that’s all there is
A wilder mind accepts that bitter and sweet cups are the stuff of life’s elixir
The bitter enhances the sweet and the sweet softens the bitter
You weren’t meant to drown in your bitter gall
Nor were you meant to be pacified by all that is sweet
The bitter tames your soul, makes it pliable
The sweet enhances all that is good in you

We are such strange creatures!
We have to leave, to miss, and to be missed
We need space ,to feel closer to our loved ones
We have to give, to receive
We have to die, to live
We have to have known loss, so we can appreciate abundance
We have to have known darkness, so we can shine brightly through our being
We have to have been lost, to know the warm feeling of being found
We have to have tasted great hatred, so we can become great lovers
We have to have been buried, so we can sprout back up
We have to have been cut deeply and wide open, for blood to gush out, ushering in true healing
We have to have been cut, in order to be sutured
We have to have seen chaos, to appreciate harmony
We have to have heard cacophony, so we can hear beautiful sounds….

To all of my readers: I wish you a Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays and a wonderful 2015!!! Thank you for reading and following this blog 🙂 ❤ -Eva
Christmas presents all wrapped up in bright festive colors
Waiting for their big day
Holding secrets that won’t keep long
Days dwindle down
Anticipation mounts
Big and small packages
Pregnant with good news
Only they know of the treasures within
Live each day like a Christmas gift you unwrap on Christmas morn’!
Because none of us know when our time comes
Anticipate each day like a kid on Christmas morn’
Stop looking back on your past gifts
You’ve been there and lived that
Live the present as if it really is your one and only present
Tomorrow’s gifts are yet unknown-they remain under the tree of life
Open them when their time comes
Yesterday’s presents will not help you live today any better
So wise up and get goin’
Get over the past, it’s been opened
Nor worry about your future -for it’s yet to be unwrapped
LIVE this very day!
Go ahead, tear into the paper
Don’t save the bows
It’s what’s inside that matters
That’s what’s yours to hold!!!

One day I want to look up and know that all I did made a difference
I wanna know that all I touched turned to gold
I wanna know that I warmed a heart gone cold
I wanna know that I caused the blind to see
I wanna know that I caused waves in the ocean
and that the stones I skipped on a pond
caused ripples in the sea
I wanna know that those souls in my care
knew I was always there
I wanna know that I caused the deaf to hear
sweet, sweet, sweet music for the very first time
I wanna know I made some one cry happy tears
I wanna know that I made some one laugh ’til they cried
I wanna know that my existence made a difference
I wanna know that I caused a paused heart to resume play
I wanna know that you chose life because my life made a difference in yours
I wanna know that I caused you to dream big dreams because this dreamer, never dreams little dreams
I wanna know that I caused you to be ridiculously silly for a half a minute
and for that short span of time you forgot your troubles
I wanna know if my love caused you to bloom…
My mind is free to go places without limits
My heart is free to feel what it wants to
My heart is free to love whom it wants to
To choose how long I’m going to love you
When I decide ,you’ll know
I won’t stop loving you
Because my hearts is free to change how I’ll continue loving you…
My feet are free to walk where they choose
My hands are free to grab a pen, put it to paper to unleash my wildest of imaginations
My body is free to feel the music and dance til day break or not
My eyes are free to roam where ever they want to and see things beyond the horizon
My ears are free to listen to nature’s song
To tune into an unseen realm-a realm more real than the tangible one
My will is free to choose right from wrong
I am free to learn the lesson or not…
How free are you?

There is a smell and feel of dawn long before the light
Dawn smells like:
Lavender
An untraveled path
A rose about to bloom
A hot cup of steaming green tea
There is a smell and feel of dawn long before light
Dawn feels like:
A newborn’s breath on my cheek
My lover’s kiss on my eager lips
A hug from some one you have not embraced in a while
An unexpected smile…

Winter of want
Several seasons of this …
I am weary
I wake up daily
Put my nice smile back on
Yeah, gotta make sure everyone knows I’m ok
But inside
I am not
I am not ok with the needs
I am not ok with this winter of want
I am not ok with standing
I am a person of action
Lately my actions don’t seem to amount to much
I am not ok with laying down and taking it
FUCK!!!!!!
When does this winter of want end??
I close my eyes and I see myself running in fields of plenty
I see seeds I sowed long ago
Finally bringing forth their fruit
This is my only hope
In this long, weary winter of want

Will I ever know the outer fringes of you?
Will I ever let you know mine?
What can be found in your out skirts?
I’ll tell you what you might find in mine…
A slow down sign or two
A proceed with caution sign too
I’ll only roll out the red carpet to welcome you into my inner city
IF and only when I find you worthy
In my outer city limits you’ll see a cheap motel
For the lone traveler just passing through
Stay the night and no longer than that
You’ll also find a cheap diner
Where you can eat on the go
You’ll find a gas station
One with several sun faded signs
Where gas is just 10 cents a gallon
I want you to hurry and fuel up
So you can leave as fast as you can.
