Repurpose Vintage Jewelry

We all have tired, old jewelry that we keep in a drawer somewhere, right? This year, I decided to use some of my discarded earrings and bangles, along with my collection of antique buttons, and I turned them into vintage Christmas tree ornaments.

All you need is a glue gun with plenty of glue sticks, your trinkets and baubles, and your imagination! Get together with friends and family, have them bring their used costume jewelry and exchange some of yours with some of theirs. It’s a great way to get together and enjoy your holidays while you make some very personal ornaments for your tree. Best of all, you will create some new memories with your loved ones too!

THE GREATEST GIFT OF ALL

THE GREATEST GIFT OF ALL

To all of my readers: I wish you a Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays and a wonderful 2015!!! Thank you for reading and following this blog 🙂 ❤ -Eva

Christmas presents all wrapped up in bright festive colors

Waiting for their big day

Holding secrets that won’t keep long

Days dwindle down

Anticipation mounts

Big and small packages

Pregnant with good news

Only they know of the treasures within

Live each day like a Christmas gift you unwrap on Christmas morn’!

Because none of us know when our time comes

Anticipate each day like a kid on Christmas morn’

Stop looking back on your past gifts

You’ve been there and lived that

Live the present as if it really is your one and only present

Tomorrow’s gifts are yet unknown-they remain under the tree of life

Open them when their time comes

Yesterday’s presents will not help you live today any better

So wise up and get goin’

Get over the past, it’s been opened

Nor  worry about your future -for it’s yet to be unwrapped

LIVE this very day!

Go ahead, tear into the paper

Don’t save the bows

It’s what’s inside that matters

That’s what’s yours to hold!!!

Tiny Star

This is a story I used to tell my 4 kids when they were little. I finally sat down and wrote it. I hope you enjoy this, a piece of my kid’s childhood. They still remember it and that warms my heart!

Once upon a time there was a tiny star who lived in the sapphire blue midnight skies. She wanted so much to be noticed but she was just a tiny twinkle in the heavens. She would see all the shooting stars flying by her at amazing speeds. She always wondered where they went once they fell out of the heavens, earth-bound,  never to be seen or heard from again. So she asked The North Star, the wisest of all the nova,

” North Star, please tell me how I can be like all those amazing shooting stars that whiz on by me everyday!” The North Star frowned and responded in his deep gentle voice of a caring grandpa,

” Darling, you don’t want to be them. Not all is as it seems.”

Tiny Star frowned and she jumped up and down exclaiming,

” But I DO! It’s what I wanted to be since I was born.” North Star put his arm around her and sat Tiny Star on his ancient lap. He let her get settled and then he answered.

” No, you don’t. For you see, shooting stars are here one day and gone tomorrow. They shoot off in a bang and no one ever sees them again.” Tiny Star was wide-eyed and she said,

” WHAT?? Where do they go?” North Star answered with a chuckle,

” They go nowhere mi amor. They die and can never shine like you will always shine. People don’t remember them like they remember you. People don’t name shooting stars, they name the real, fixed stars like you who form  part of major constellations. Remember that.” Tiny Star was amazed,

” You mean I matter? You mean people know my name?”  North Star answered  her with a calm smile and a wink,

” Of course they do because your name is written in the stars by God‘s own hand.” Tiny Star was never the same after she discovered her true identity and purpose.

THE END!

GOOD BYE 2012 HELLO 2013!!

I dedicate this post to all of my followers. Thank you for all your kind support and feed back.  And so we are off to a new year. I am happy to announce that I am now working for Henderson Press, a local news paper. I will be covering news worthy events surrounding the arts around town and I will have an Opinion column. This is something I always wanted to do and now here I am doing it!

My dear readers, please don’t ever give up on chasing your dreams down and living them with a passion.  Sure, writing is not making me killer bucks, at least not yet hee hee but that doesn’t matter a hill of pinto beans to me. I get such a kick out of living my dream because at the end of my day I know some one benefited from what I do.

As you enter 2013 remind yourself that you are the only one that can do  what you were put here on planet earth to do. Many people can do the same job similarly true enough; no one can do it quite like you though! So stand back and let 2013 be the year your surprise yourself! Go for it there is no one stopping you but you and fear. And did you know fear simply is an acronym for: FALSE EVIDENCE APPEARING REAL. Let that sink in!

So long 2012, thanks for all the good things you brought me which are too many to name; and thanks for the bad things because I actually learned a lot from them. I go into this new year full of hope and a  resolve to keep pushing forward and forgetting what tried to hold me back in the past. I hope you find the strength to do the same.

Take care readers and see ya next year!!! 🙂

THANK YOU!

THANK YOU!

I came to the USA
Though I love my country of birth,
The place of my blood,
Is still in my heart…
BUT I’ve lived in this great land,
For most of my life.

As a girl I ran on the sand
Of her finest beaches.IMG_2151
I grew up eating
Georgia’s delightful peaches.
I’ve seen the sunrise in the east,
To watch it descend
In the far west.
My eyes have seen a feast,
But the sun setting at home, baloney
Is always the finest,the best.

All of my blessings
Have been given  me here,
In this wonderful place.
Where God has given me favor,
And shown me His face.
I’m forever thankful
For all that I have:
A life rich with flavor. IMG_1760

I look into the eyes of my loved ones…
Daily I see,
Daily I hear,
Daily I know,  whom I’m indebted to. ffpoets

I am rich without measure,
I look all around,
In my home, so MUCH treasure!
I appreciate you God,
For bringing me here,
I say to you now, and forevermore!!
” Happy Thanksgiving Day to all of my family, friends and fans!”
