In the garden of Eden
Is where God met man’s needs
So He gave Him Eve
Who would help Adam to multiply his seeds
Through her kind words
Through her sensuous deeds…

2 years ago, he left for good…
Our good, that is
2 years later, things that had to fall in place, have
Things that had to run by the wayside, did
Things that are still together
Are holding beautifully and without much effort
2 years ago, I didn’t know if I’d make it on my own
2 years later, indeed, I have!!
2 years ago, I needed reassurance that my life altering decision was the right one
Not just for me;for my kids too
2 years later, I only wonder why I waited so long
2 years ago, I wondered If I would regret ending it
2 years later, I stand firmly by my decision and I boldly proclaim:
I regret very little in this short life span I’ve lived
I have loved walking this path
Here’s to the many steps that I’ve left to take!!!

I am posting a couple of poems written by a 13 year old dancer and aspiring poet . -Eva
Storytellers
dancers are mimes
we express ourselves
through our
movements,
no words.
if your act
tells a story,
I think it’s one of
the most
beautiful things.
if not, you need to
get out of the
box and tell it.

I’m Deanna. Most know me by DD, which is how I write my name on some poems I have written. I’m a dancer, dance has been a part of my life for awhile, since I was two. I’m in 7th grade, in Las Vegas Nevada. Dance helps me with my writing, and so do my experiences. My dream is to become a professional dancer, along with being a writer/poet.
A prison can be found in the confines of a 3 million dollar mansion
A prison can be found in the interior of the latest Ferrari model
Prisons are all around
What keeps you from chasing after your dreams?
That’s your prison
Who controls your mind?
They are your prison warden
Why did you never believe you could fly?
A prison is waiting there for you…on that island that surrounds that lie
You know the one
You heard it from the time you could understand
You came here to be free
And some one stole the sparkle from your eyes
Some one chopped off the tail to your kite
Telling you it wasn’t long or short enough…and you believed them…
Some one said you sucked at singing
That your voice is flatter than a pan cake
And you chose not to let your vocal chords sing another note
Some one told you couldn’t dream great dreams
So you chose to live a night mare
Some one told you you’re too poor to make your dreams come true
That only the rich are allowed to dream…you believed them…
All you had to do was reject the bullshit lies
But you went on and embraced them instead
You chose a prison to spend all of your days in
You chose to line your pockets with money
So you wouldn’t have to live feeling the pain of the lie
You have friends, but you hate them all
You have people who need your help
And you hate them too
There are people who love you
And you can’t receive their love because you don’t allow yourself visitors inside your self- made prison

Roam if you want to.
Go where you want to.
Feel what you want, or don’t.
See what you want or, don’t.
Say what you want,or don’t.
Laugh only if it’s funny to you.
Cry only if it moves you.
Own yourself and be proud of yourself.
Hug if you want to or don’t.
Kiss if you feel like it or don’t.
Dance in the rain or don’t.
Walk when you feel like walking and don’t let anyone make you run if you don’t want to.
Share only if you want to because sometimes there are things that only belong to you.
Say no when you want to.
Say yes only when you want to.
Say, “ I love you.” Only when you want to and not because it was expected of you.
Be shy when you want to and when you want to be bold do it.
Be true only to you and own your truth.
Dance with someone or alone-but do it anyway.
Go where there are people or stay in alone.
Look at the sunset or don’t.
Write a love letter and keep it forever or not.
Write a love story and share or take it to your grave.
Compose a love song and sing it or not.
Whatever you do, do it for you!

THE LAST TEXT
I love dance because I truly believe it is poetry in motion. I’ve always had a special place in my heart for dancers. Please watch this powerful video where dancers bring to life a very real threat to our safety every time we get in a car. These young dancers put to motion what words do to warn us. Keep in mind that texting and driving are as deadly as being drunk or high while trying to drive. BE SAFE!
Hello everyone! My week stay in Atlanta was wonderful! I have photos to post up from my 2 book signings for SALSA!. They will be up soon. Now, I am happy to announce I’ll be having another book signing at the Book Boutique located on 19 W. Pacific Ave. Henderson, NV. So please mark Saturday, February 23rd on your calendar because I want to see you there from 12 to 2pm.
I participated in this year’s Vegas Valley Book Festival today! My books didn’t come in yet so I didn’t have any to sell at this event. So I had some flyers made up and I went there anyway to enjoy the day, meet new people and get the word out about Salsa! the Taste of Life, my new book. I don’t let anything stop me!
As it turned out, I am glad I went and there was a happy surprise! I was able to read excerpts from Salsa! in front of a captive audience. I love it when things fall together better than when I plan them . I call that serendipity. Here are some pictures from the event. I plan to attend the next one in 2013 and I am sure I will have books to sell then. “When life hands me lemons, I bake a lemon merengue pie!!” -Eva 😀

I’ve been pouring over my proof copy of SALSA! The Taste of Life, my new book coming out soon to your local bookstores. It occurred to me that I am in a great place in my life right now ! Then this song popped in my head and so I had to share it with you, my amazing audience. So now I’ll get back to some more weeding out of last minute typos! HAPPY LABOR DAY 🙂
Salsa! The Taste of Life, my new book is soon to be released and here is another one of my edited poems. Life is a dance! Some of us move and flow with the music. Others have a hard time following or even keeping up at all. Enjoy your day with your loved ones as you read this poem ask yourself, when was the last time I really let my hair down and danced? If you haven’t, and it’s been a while, just go for it. if you are like me who is still dancing after everything life has thrown at me, then grab someone’s hand who hasn’t danced in a while and dance!
Dancin’ Shoes
Teach me Your dance,
show me Your steps.
Put Your rhythms in my feet,
make me follow Your beat,
make me follow Your lead.
I want to dance to the sounds,
of Your holy music.
You initiated this pas de deux long ago;
as You formed me in seclusion.
I’m just now awakening,
to the joyous serenade.
All my life I waited and waited,
for the dance to commence.
It began on the day that You took my hand,
and invited me to dance;
now I know I will tango, mambo,
salsa,
my way into eternity.
I will not be a mere guest,
because I am already a member in this heavenly ball!
