365 Snap Shots of Life Blog Challenge: Day 50

I have several muses and among them are my 4 extremely photogenic kids. Around my home I call them camera hogs, they don’t mind because it’s true. I long to have a very nice camera one day. For now, I keep using what I have. I am one of those people who is more comfortable behind the camera than in front of it. One of my daughters always insists on taking my picture and I let her because she’s right in what she says,” Mama, how are we going to remember you when there are hardly any pictures of your around?” So I sigh and I let her shoot me 🙂 I wish you a happy Sunday!!

WHEN THE CHILDREN CRY- White Lion

little child
dry your crying eyes
how can I explain
the fear you feel inside
cause you were born
into this evil world
where man is killing man
and no one knows just why
what we have become
just look what we have done
all that we destroyed
you must build again

when the children cry
let them know we tried
cause when the children sing
then the new world begins

PEOPLE PLEASE STOP HATING

Have we become so callous as a human race that we can’t say anything nice when some one passes away? People would rather speak badly of the ones who go before us than remembering them for anything good they may have done in their lives. We are all human. We all make mistakes. Not one of us is perfect. So before any one of us casts a stone at someone who has fallen, look inside yourself and see if you’ve arrived…chances are you’re like the rest of us are: WORKS IN PROGRESS.

VIVA LAS VEGAS -Elvis Presley

Bright light city gonna set my soul
Gonna set my soul on fire
Got a whole lot of money that’s ready to burn,
So get those stakes up higher
There’s a thousand pretty women waitin’ out there
And they’re all livin’ devil may care
And I’m just the devil with love to spare
Viva Las Vegas, Viva Las Vegas

How I wish that there were more
Than the twenty-four hours in the day
‘Cause even if there were forty more
I wouldn’t sleep a minute away
Oh, there’s black jack and poker and the roulette wheel
A fortune won and lost on ev’ry deal
All you need’s a strong heart and a nerve of steel
Viva Las Vegas, Viva Las Vegas

Viva Las Vegas with you neon flashin’
And your one armbandits crashin’
All those hopes down the drain
Viva Las Vegas turnin’ day into nighttime
Turnin’ night into daytime
If you see it once
You’ll never be the same again

I’m gonna keep on the run
I’m gonna have me some fun
If it costs me my very last dime
If I wind up broke up well
I’ll always remember that I had a swingin’ time
I’m gonna give it ev’rything I’ve got
Lady luck please let the dice stay hot
Let me shout a seven with ev’ry shot
Viva Las Vegas, Viva Las Vegas,
Viva, Viva Las Vegas

Give Honor Where Honor is Due

Whitney Houston may not have put on boots and handled a gun to honor our country. However let us not forget how she brought honor to our country in a time of need by singing The National Anthem in such a way that brought us honor. So I applaud the state of NJ for returning the honor by flying the flag at half mast to mark her passing. What a lot of people don’t know, is that the money she made from the singing The National Anthem, Whitney Houston donated every penny to our soldiers.

I DANCE FOR SPORT!

I watched this clip and I instantly felt better for all those years in P.E. when I was always the last one picked for any team. Whether it was Dodge Ball or Soft Ball, it made no difference, I was a  girly girl and I didn’t do well with sports. I also used to think I was completely not athletic until I realized how wrong I was about myself. I’ve danced since I could walk and as an adult, I realized that dancing IS athletic in every sense. The dance floor is where it’s at for me. Back to the sports court though, THAT’S where I don’t belong! Enjoy the clip 🙂

When You Wish Upon A Star lyrics

When you wish upon a star
Makes no difference who you are
Anything your heart desires
Will come to you

If your heart is in your dream
No request is too extreme
When you wish upon a star
As dreamers do

Fate is kind
She brings to those who love
The sweet fulfillment of
Their secret longing

Like a bolt out of the blue

Fate steps in and sees you through
When you wish upon a star
Your dreams come true

Fate is kind
She brings to those who love
The sweet fulfillment of
Their secret longing

Like a bolt out of the blue
Fate steps in and sees you through
When you wish upon a star
Your dreams come true

Snap Shots Of Life Blog Challenge Day: 47

When my son turned 12 he received a desert tortoise. One of our neighbors learned of my son’s fascination with such creatures and he gave it to him. A few days later someone stole Snap from our front porch where we kept him. That was a sad day for my son and even though he was a good sport about it  he never got over it.

This past Saturday our next door neighbors found a desert tortoise in their front yard and they gave him to my son. I was so happy for him. So todays’ picture is a tribute to our new family member, Chucho.

HOOVER DAM BRIDGE UNDER CONSTRUCTION

I enjoy capturing the before and after of things. I took this photo of the Mike O’Callaghan Pat Tillman Memorial bridge as it was going up. The next photo is a limited view of the finished project. One freaky thing about this bridge is that when there is a lot of traffic on it, you can feel the bridge sway a little under your feet. I’m not sure if it’s the sensation of being so high up or maybe its all in my head. One thing is certain, when my kids and I go to look at it, we can’t wait to get back down to firm ground.
