EVERYONE WAITS

Everyone waits
Some wait to die
Others wait out their fate
Still others wait until it’s too late

Children hate to wait
Some are born on time
Some are born past their due date
They don’t know we were born to wait

Then there are those who rush in
They hate to wait
So they rush in
And they get there at the wrong date

Everyone waits
She waits for the bus
He waits for his bride
She waits at the altar
As he dies in the war
She waits for the phone call
That will make her heart fall
The baby waits in utero
9 months in seclusion
Life began from day one
A child hopes to see the sun.

A man waits to die
He quit on life
When life got hard
He forsook the truth
And swallowed the lie
He waits to die
He stews in self hate
He thinks it’s too late
Life passes him by
And all he wants to do is die
Then there’s a woman who waits
For her lost love
She waits like she waited
When she was a school girl
For that phone call from him
That would rock her world
But it never came
Because he was too scared
To go after her
Who would rock his world
And the woman grew tired of the wait
And one day he showed up at her door
And then he came a day too late

Everyone waits…

NICE GIRLS

Living on the edge aint so bad
Got told to follow all their rules
Walk their line
And don’t ever get mad
Because nice little girls
Don’t ever a temper show
So she kept it all inside
It burned inside her nice and slow
They said be a good girl
‘cause livin’ on the edge
Is like jumping off a ledge
And nice girls seemingly make a better world
Nice girls seldom change the world
That’s the way they want it

A KNOWING…

Wish I could stop by
To look in your eyes
To tell you I tried
And all time does is fly by

Wish I could stop by
To tell you
A long time ago
Without you I thought I would die

It’s a beautiful thing
When I look inside me
And I can breathe
Knowing I’m free-

Free from you
Free from our past
Free from doubt and worry
Oh how I used to think we’d always last

And now it doesn’t matter
Spent so many hours
Wringing my hands
Pacing to and fro
And now I am as fluid as water
‘cause nothing from the past matters.

HEAVEN…WHERE IS IT?

Show me heaven
Can anyone really do that?
Can one human reflect it to another?
For what is heaven?
Is it a trouble-free life?
Is it a life with no struggle or pain?
Is it where you don’t go insane?
Is it where you don’t worry
Is it where people don’t have to say sorry?
Is it a place that can be found on earth
Is it a place of laughter and mirth?
Can it really be that far away
Or is it closer than we think?
Is it a far away galaxy
Or maybe it’s a star,
You might miss it if you blink
Oh if we could only see

What is heaven
Is it 2 hearts beating as one
Is it being able to forgive
Beyond the seventy times seven

What is heaven?
Is it a smile on a baby while he sleeps
Is it real before we all reach age seven
We see it when we’re little
And then we all fall asleep

Show me heaven
Tell me where it is
Give me a road map
In this life, is there such a place?
